The second character I am developing for visual structure. I want to make them a little more artistic and not so typical looking. Not sure how to go about it at the moment tho. :( I think its a decent start tho. I have soo much respect for story developers. There is so much to think about and so many things to take into consideration with story and character development and to tie it all together.

Vis Structure

A character I am developing for my story in Visual Structure.

The story in a nutshell is a kung fu style movie .. one that perhaps Quentin Tarantino would direct. The story involves use of particular colors and is set in the future on the planet 9. Kind of an old world mixed with the new world. Here sits Mel, the main character, reluctant to learn the ways of a true warrior.

Texture

I was given this model to texture for my 2D for 3D texture class. We had to make our own textures and apply it to the model. This was our final exam last term.

Sam

I had an internal critique today.. while composing all my work together I came across one of my first assignments. We had to model and texture a bug. I chose a jumping spider. His name is Sam.

poly 2

Here is my polygon modeling 2 final project. I think he turned out pretty good. Not bad for my second character model. I learned alot doing this one. I think the next one will go smoother and hopefully be much much better. :)

The last image is something I put together to make people understand how I felt about nurbs modeling. A Poly (character) vs Nurbs (helicopter) battle. Can you guess which one is winning???

(I modeled both the charater and the chopper.. it was just two different techniques in the way you model things)

sifi giraffe

This assignment was from my Production Design class. We had to take an animal and give it robot like qualities. I'm not sure if I accomplished what I set out to do in the first place. It is totally not complete .. but it is on its way. I picked a giraffe.. I think because they are tall and I'm not.
Pencil

Photoshop rendering.. work in progress.

Mel & Colli

I've always liked clowns for some reason. I think because sometimes I feel like one. With big red shoes that you trip over yourself with and a funny nose. When I got this assignment in my production design class I really sank my teeth into it.

Mel & Colli. She travels from planet to planet battling evil and the demons within herself. Along the way she picks a few good things up. Like Colli, who hangs from her hobo stick. Mel looks desperately ahead with much uncertainty of what the future holds. Still with just a sliver of hope for something bigger, something better. Giving up is not an option. The same journey that has beaten her down... is what has made her strong.

Here is the project from a pencil drawing to several attempts at completion. I'm still thinking she needs a different environment.

pencil drawing

First attempt at adding some color in photoshop .. I wanted to keep the colors of a clown and keep it subtle. that soon changed.

I then printed her out started coloring in a background and was like woah.. put down the pencils. So thats what I did.

Decided to go a different route with the advice of my production des. teach. Printed out again and added some color then scanned her back in. Cutting parts of the crazy background up and flipping it. So this is where I am at now. My final image.
